City to hunt different English options this summer
Manchester City are having to scale back their efforts to acquire a plethora of English players this summer due to difficulties in signing them, according to the Daily Mail.
City are hoping to sign homegrown talent this summer in order to satisfy Premier League quotas, and one club which City have been strongly linked with raiding is Tottenham Hotspur, having shown interest in Eric Dier, Danny Rose and Kyle Walker.
However, sporting director Txiki Begiristain realises it will be difficult to take any of these players as the England internationals are signed to long-term deals.
The Sky Blues have also been linked with Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain at Arsenal. City are set to make a move for the Chilean striker, despite the Gunners stating that they will not sell him to another Premier League club.
City have also been monitoring Burnley defender Michael Keane and Middlesbrough centre-back Ben Gibson but it is uncertain as to whether they will be pursued by Guardiola.
Sunderland and England Under-21 goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has also seen some interest from Pep Guardiola with the summer transfer window rapidly approaching.
