Guardiola to raid Arsenal in the summer
Incoming Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will make an £80m double swoop for Arsenal duo Alexis Sanchez and Jack Wilshere when he takes charge in the summer, according to the Daily Mirror.
Sanchez has been rumoured to be unsettled by Arsenal’s wavering league form and would reportedly welcome a move to the Etihad Stadium.
City have previously targeted Sanchez, before his move to Barcelona in 2011, and are still eager to have him playing in sky blue, with this season’s squad lacking attacking prowess.
The Mirror reports that Guardiola is willing to pay up to £40m for the 26-year-old’s services in the summer.
The same fee will be offered for injury-prone England international Jack Wilshere, who has failed to play a full 90 minutes for Arsenal since September 2014.
Contract talks between Wilshere and the club have stalled in recent weeks and Guardiola is set to seize the opportunity to swoop for the 24-year-old.
Wilshere is set to be named in Roy Hodgson’s 23-man squad on Monday for this summer’s European Championships and performances in the competition could increase his market value. However, City believe that the sum that they are offering is enough to secure a deal for Wilshere regardless of his performances in France.
