Martin Demichelis in demand ahead of summer window
Martin Demichelis is attracting interest from league leaders Leicester City and Roberto Martinez’s Everton, according to the Daily Mail. Both clubs have been understood to be in contact with representatives of the Argentine defender.
Demichelis, who has come in for much criticism from fans this season is out of contract in the summer and would be seen as a cheap experienced squad addition by Leicester and Everton. With incoming City boss, Pep Guardiola seeking to rebuild the City squad and the centre of defence seen as the starting point it is unlikely 35-year old Demichelis will be kept around as Guardiola seeks younger options in defence.
Demichelis was an important part of City’s 13/14 title-winning season as his performances in the absence of Kompany helped City get over the line.
It is those kind of performances Roberto Martinez or Claudio Ranieri will be hoping to extract from him rather than some of his performances this season , like the one in the last City game he featured in: March’s 1-0 Manchester Derby loss at the Etihad.
Last summer Demichelis was on the verge of a move to River Plate, the club he started his career at and he is believed to favour a move back home.
