Guardiola will join irrespective of where City finish
Pep Guardiola will join Manchester City in the summer, even if the club finish outside of the top four.
According to the Telegraph, there is no clause in place that City should they not achieve Champions League, Pep will not be allowed to get out of a previous agreement.
Manuel Pellegrini’s City currently lie in fourth position in the Premier League, level on points with Manchester United and just a point ahead of West Ham – though the Blues do have a game in hand.
And despite the possibility of City not playing in next year’s Champions League, it will have no impact on whether Guardiola will join the club.
It is understood that the 45-year old will begin his role as City boss on July 1st and plans are under way for his arrival.
Yaya Toure has been heavily linked with a move away having already been flogged out by Guardiola in his time at Barcelona, but the report says the relationship between the two has improved and the chance of the Ivorian leaving in the summer is not as likely as first thought.
News that Guardiola will definitely take the reins for next season can only be good for Manchester City after this season’s disappointing title challenge.
