Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure is set to be ousted out of the club in the summer, with incoming manager Pep Guardiola poised to place his trust in academy starlet Aleix Garcia, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Spanish coach sold Toure whilst in charge at Barcelona and, since the announcement was made that he would take over at the Etihad Stadium in the summer, there has been constant speculation about the Ivorian’s future.
The Mirror now understands that Guardiola will, once again, offload Toure and offer Garcia the chance to establish himself in the senior squad.
City fans got a glimpse of the Spanish starlet in last weekend’s 5-1 defeat to Chelsea as Manuel Pellegrini sacrificed the FA Cup in order to focus on their European venture.
Guardiola has also earmarked Dinamo Zagreb playmaker Ante Coric as a target in the summer, with the ex-Barcelona coach looking to give the squad at the Sportscity complex a more youthful view.
The Sky Blues have been linked with big-money moves for Juventus anchor Paul Pogba, who has been dubbed ‘the next Yaya Toure’, and Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta, who formed a good partnership with Guardiola whilst he was in charge at the Nou Camp, since the two-time Premier League champions confirmed that the highly-rated manager would take over in the summer.
